Procurement and Specifications:-

Mangoes need to be semi-ripe. Mangoes should weight about 250 g each, with a 5mm Decapping cut. It cannot be removed straight from the base.

They can primarily be exported through air in a ULD of 1200 KG (400 Box*) or a Pallet of 3600 KG.  Unit Load Device (ULD) is either an aircraft pallet and pallet net combination, or an aircraft container. Mangoes are quite perishable in nature, hence the majority of exporters do not want to send them by vessel.

1. Hot Water Treatment- Dipping mangoes in warm water @50 degrees Celsius for 5 Minutes (European And Western Countries) 
2. Desapping process – Cutting of mango stalk above 5mm
3. Irradiation Treatment – Treatment by Gamma Rays (USA and Australia )
4. Vapour Treatment – Treatment of mango by hot vapour (Japan and Korea)

Apeda Packed House typically rejects some percentage of mangoes, so if an exporter orders 1200 KG, they must purchase 1500 KG.

The exporter can return rejected mangoes from the packed house to farmers and file a refund request.

Exporters could sell mangoes that were rejected for export in India.

A packed house and the place of sourcing (Farm) must be registered by state authorities. Therefore, the exporter must register Orchard as a source.
